Hi all. I purchased a Dewalt drill at a car boot this morning. The guy said it didnt work. But as my Dad has several, i thought at worst it could be used for spares.
Its a Dewalt 12v DW953 Drill/Driver . It has two batteries a case and charger. Funny enough i got it home, charged the batteries and hey presto. I have had the batteries running a 12v car fan for over 1 hour each and still going strong. So i presumming they are ok.
The only thing is the collar on the keyless chuck has become loose. So im thinking of buying a new one from Ebay. Thing is i dont know if it will fit. Its the 1/2 thread. But does anyone know if all the 1/2 thread ones fit, or is it a cratain pitch? It doesnt have a screw up the middle either.
But for £5 i thought it was worth the risk.
Cheers.
Wayne. :)

From what I remember Elu was bought out by black and decker who own or are owned by dewalt..
all the good tools by elu were rebranded as dewalt and and the rubbish was rebranded b&d ...
so I belive all three share the same threads..
easyest way to find out is to take it to the nearest tool hire shop as the have to change the chucks all the time and hold large stocks at cheap prices ..
I got one in banger for £7 fitted (non branded make but works fine)...

Well. I took it off, and low and behold its 1/2" 20Tpi. Which is what most of them are. So as you said Lee, of to the local Shop for a new one. :)
