my 200tdi defender decided not to start, no click at the solenoid, nothing.
managed to grab hold of wires on solenoid and checked their tight, gave them a bit of wiggle and she started.
got down the road went to stsrt up again and no joy. checked connections sprayed a bit of wd for good measure, tapped starter with mallett, rocked in gear, no joy.
got a push to get going. psrked on a hill, but she started!!
. really bugging me
any ideas????
cheers guys -
ps never realised what a pain the starter is to get too!!

Take off the main Positive feed and clean it up. Check you have power going to the solinoid activation wire when the key is in the start position..... Check the earth points are good and clean....

starter's knackered. might have something to do with being covered in engine oil!
have a bigger problem with engine - think its breathing? its done 100k only owned it about 3 months and noticed oil leaking out of intercooler pipes. i cleaned them out and replaced the breather on the rocker cover, but after about a month the oil is back.
not really too sure what to do about it?
I get a puff of blue/grey smoke on start up and its a bit smoky till warm then not too bad just some under load.
Hmmmm

that sounds like a normal 200tdi!
mine does it, my mates does it, you dont need to worry about a little bit of crankcase pressure

mine leaked like that for a while, and kept blowing the oil filler cap off so i got a new cap

most probably just keep on cleanig out the hoses and sit back and enjoy the ride!!
I love land rovers!
