Title: How much is it worth?
Post by: muddyjames on May 08, 2008, 19:01:19
Disco 300tdi with head gasket gone and needs a new head.

nearly 190k on the clock. MOT until end of August, road tax till Jan 09.

It has the leather interior, veg oil conversion kit, auto, had snorkel, tree sliders, steering guard with highlift and recovery points built in, tinted windows at rear td5 battery in Dec 24th.

Air con doesnt work at the mo.

so if I were to sell up how much would it be worth? £500?

How much would I get if I sold the off road bits and then took it to a scrap yard?

You'll always get more if you break it!

My RRC was chopped last year, sold £3800 worth of bits and kept £4000 worth of bits. Top ebay offer was £2700.

With yours...
£150+ seats
£70+ guard
£80+ snorkel
£90 road tax refund
£100 tree sliders
£150+ auto box

It's always such a shame to see them broken though!

Hi James

Just a thought, but you could always strip back the off road bits, sell the gearbox, transfer box, seats, axles etc and whatever you could e-bay or via MC and start with a newer vehicle.

Brightwells run a specialist 4x4 auction on Tuesdays - horribly cheap, makes you want to weep but the following went for £1,500

1998 R Land Rover Discovery Diesel Station Wagon 300 Tdi 5dr
126312 miles warranted, Silver, 13 Services, V5 here, MoT 4 Mar'09, 7 Seats, Side Steps, Alloy Wheels, Tow Plate, Sold As Seen, No VAT,
Direct from Main Agent.

At that rate you'd end up with newer car at net cost less than you have been quoted for the work...
