Title: Quick one...veg oil and MOT emissions...
Post by: Iain C on May 09, 2008, 15:56:22
Last year my 300Tdi passed the emissions test on the first rev, however my MOT test is tomorrow and I have a full tank of almost exactly 50:50 SVO and diesel.

Do I have anything to worry about?  Will the warm weather help?  Does it need a shot of diesel additive?  Or does veg oil make no difference anyway?

Thanks!

Mine passed a few weeks ago on 50-50 mix of Biodiesel, no issues with it at all, I did mention it to the tester before the test, but he didn't think it would make a difference anyway

My Defender passed on Wed with a 50/50 mix. All I did was give it a full service before the test, Don't know what the readings were but they did'nt say anything.

my 300 Tdi disco went through its MOT ok a few months back with about 30% veg in it.

give your truck a good run before you go for the MOT, to get the engine nice and warm.

You should pass easy with a 50:50. Veg oil produces less emissions than mineral diesel. Last time I had a test, the mechanic said mine had lower emissions and did better on the smoke test than the 56 plate passat he had just tested.

Stu.

(I did have a huge hole all the way along the top of the rear silencer tho (mechanic is a landy fan), pass!)
