I have a similar problem on my D1. I have to put the key in, turn it and pull the lever. Its been like that for 2 years now; I still haven't got round to fixing it!

Pop the green oval off the rear door handle and spray in plenty of WD40, should cure it

its not  the handle thats fine. its the door button that dosent pop up when i use the remote. i can here the locks move but the button stays put. thats why im thinking its a spring or solinoid.

theres no rear key on Disco 2's so have to use the remote, as i say it works fine if i open it from the inside by hand..

cheers

i striped all the door out and took a look at the solinoid/lock pack. theres defo power to it and i can here the internals move when i push the remote but the button dosent pop up, im pretty sure theres a broken spring/linkage etc inside.

looking like a new actuator is needed, its all one piece on the Disco 2, theres a few on ebay so will order one up..

thats on Disco 1's, Disco 2 tailgate lock/actuator is a one piece sealed unit. im guesing its an internal spring thats gone

ive only ever seen the repair kits for Disco 1's

Harry,

When you look under the handle assembly from the outside you'll see a lever/spring/thing immediately to the right of the metal handle - push this up with a thin bladed screwdriver, or even with the key. You should see the metal handle drop down slightly.

I found that this jams up if I try to open the rear door when I haven't worked the remote for all doors - the above procedure then frees it off again and all is wonderful and working once more.

Cheers

Clive
