Hi All. Ive been a bit of a silly boy. On tuesday the wind got up a bit. I thought i would help the kids out by putting the Rabbit in its run for the day. On my way in the back door, the wind cought it. To try and stop the glass turning to dust all over the kitchen i put my hand out to stop it.
Thats when it became Door 1 My first finger on left hand 0
Ive done some bad things in my life, but come on. Its one finger. Ive been in agony ever since. Onlt tonight has it started to stop resembling a LIPSTICK.
The swelling is going down, and im now able to move it. I think the skin missing on the side is the most painful bit.
Anyone got any advice for fast healing??
Ive been taking Arnica tablets, and putting the cream on. Its good stuff. Look it up. :-# :-#

sure you've not broken it? I would put a wad of something between that finger and the next and tape them together for support. And stick an ice pack on it for about 5 mins... will numb it and help the swelling go down! Poor you, not nice!
-
its incredible how much something so small as a finger can hurt!!
and you dont realise how much you use a finger until you cant use it!
-
if it still hurts then you need more beer
ouch that sounds painfull, i got my middle finger stick in my mums car boot once and that really hurt, ice seemed to sort it out abit
best of luck,
kieran

I would suggest getting it checked if you haven't already done so. I've heard tales of people putting up with pain like that for a week, then finding they have a broken finger!
-
Sounds like a break, but I'm not a medic. From what I've heard, they don't do much with a busted digit other than strap it up.
As regards the pain, I'd agree with the beer suggestion.

Thanks Guys.
Well today it is more of a natural colour. Most of the pain is gine, and i can slowly start to move it. I think it will be a couple of weeks before its back to normal. Ill try having a few Spitfires tonight, and see if it helps.
Im sure it will. :)

Hope its better now Sharpshooter, my daughter shut my son's finger in the hinge of a door recently, we had to go down casualty and have xrays. It was dressed twice at hospital and he had to have antibiotics too, it has healed really well but took about 10 days. Everyone has a story like this to tell, my husband got his shut in the folding caravan table and I got mine shut in the car door and fainted for about 10 mins - husband thought I was asleep!

what is it this week with fingers,
a bloke at my work cut his finger off with a jigsaw Wednesday,
today the boss man shut his hand in his zip up bin bag full of rubble and pulled the skin off the end,,,,,no joke, went to walk away and got pulled back :-.
i didn't laugh much tho

Well the Spitfires did the job. So more of them tonight.
It does hurt today though. Might be a trip to the quacks monday. :)
-
Oh yes Fingers hurt, especially when you slice the end of you finger almost clean off with an aluminium shed
-
I jumped out of the back door of a transit semi high top a few years back and a ring I was wearing caught on the inside of the roof as I swung out cutting the third finger of my right hand all the way round  took weeks to heal but could have been a lot worse :D

Think which part of your body you use most for the sense of touch - your fingertips. Think how many nerves there must be serving your fingers, compared to the rest of your body. I'm no expert on anatomy, but I'd say that's why finger injuries hurt so much. Hope you've not done too much damage and that you're OK soon.

Thanks for the comments guys. Of course one of the hardest things to do is................................... Type on a flippin computer.
Try it, typing without using your first fingers. Its not easy. :)
I went to see quack today. 90% sure its broke, but he said dont waste your time sitting in A&E. Its still straight so just take it easy.
Good thing it got me out of cutting the grass yesterday. Takes three hours, and i dont think my finger would have survived that on a Petrol mower. :)

SAWN THE END OFF MY INDEX FINGER BUT SUPER GLUED IT BACK ON. THROBED FOR TWO DAYS BUT STILL GOT IT EVEN IF ITS NUMB. HANDY FOR PICKING UP HOT THINGS.

Sorry to say this but........ 8-[
If you have done any nerve damage, it will really hurt when the nerves start knitting back together. Its a different type of pain to bone pain as well - trust me. [-o< And this will be weeks after the bone pain stops and you think its all better. Sorry.
Hope it gets better soon, brandy may be beneficial! :D

This morning i woke up, and i can at last move my finger. The bruising has gone to a dull green, and i can almost make a claw shape. :)
So the futures bright. :)

I caught my wedding ring on the Stage One door - did the same ripped all the skin off around it - OW. Took about a month to heal. Been a lot more careful since!
-
It was policy at work that if you wore a ring and it was the cause of an injury, you'd get reduced compensation as they recommended people take rings off. As I was a Paramedic dealing with the unwashed, wearing a ring could become a hygiene issue, so I stopped wearing it 20 years ago, and lost track of where it was kept about 15 years ago, much to the annoyance of SWMBO.

I've got 2 ... one on one hand, one on t'other - wedding and engagement .....

I cought my ring at work, sliced all the way round, very painful. Then a few weeks later when it had healed, I was demonstating to the lad how I did it.....and did exactly the same again!!!!
