Never had the problem myself but common advise....
Seems various problems can occur so the indicator lamp is not the sure way to tell if diff lock is engaged or not. Jack up a front wheel (just the 1) and chock the rear wheel to stop it rolling away. With difflock lever in the on position, select neutral on the gearstick. Attempt to spin the wheel that is up in the air. Does not spin = diff lock is engaged. Move the diiflock lever to off. If the wheel spins when the diff lock is disengaged and doesn't spin when it is engaged then the diff lock works. Then you can go about fault find and fixing the lamp.

My warning light didn't work. Check the feed (blue/black wire IIRC). If thats OK try earthing the switch i.e. directly from the switch to, say, gearbox. Earthing this way fixed mine. You test the swich with a multimeter to see if it switches on/off. hope this helps.

i had a the same problem. the rod going down towards the diff selector on the tranfer box pivots on an adjustable linkage just screw it out by 1 turn the hardest part of the job is taking the gearbox cover off

for me it was a case of trying to find the switch in the first place. Had to remove several inches of Tixover Mud/sludge only then to find that there was no wiring to the switch. The wiring at some point must have been caught up and then broke. I replaced the switch and mended the wiring. All OK now light works, Diff Lock definately works.
