Hello All
after a 2 year absence am back in the market for a Disco, Always been fortunate enough to be able to run V8's, but now in the market for a diesel due to restrictions imposed by the government...
Have found a 'P' reg 5 door 5 seat disco in red, 300 Tdi 112K miles believe it to be an 'S' spec, up for £2500 cosmetically appears in good condition, chassis looks poor but is sound from what i can hear with the aid of a hammer and screw driver, few minor patches on inner wings cant really gauge back floor but appears sound when you crawl over it. Engine sounds a bit rattly but never having dealt with a 300 Tdi i don't know any different, pulls OK slight black smoke when you boot it from idle but is what i would call normal for an older diesel. My one doubt is the engine as i know nothing about this engine and also the box section sill that sits below doors, from underneath there is a section rusted thru about half the length, but it is the bottom part only the vertical sections are sound. is this an easy fix?
any help and advice from you all would be appreciated, getting a good price for wife's Matrix as part ex is the only way i can go.
Is this a bargain? [-o<
Many thanks all

Sounds a bit pricey to me for the description you give. I'd have thought that for £2500 you could have had a pretty good Disco. But I don't keep a particularly close eye on the prices any more.

My mate sold his for £1700 with no rust or ally corosion but it was a 96 N 300 tdi so sounds a bit pricey to me

Could not make up my mind if it was pricey or not, Brooklyn have similar vehicle going for nearly £5K. Half the trouble is i have to Part ex one car to get another.
mine field  wish i could still afford to run a V8.
One thing on my side is my 2 boys aged 3 & 4 are now desperate for me to have a land rover, the eldest remebers the last Disco i had.

Look out for an LPG converted one, cheap as diesel but with all the fun of a V8.
On the rusty sills, offer to pay to have it put through an MoT. If it fails (or seller refuses), you have saved some grief.
cheers, Ross K

My old man just paid £500 for an r reg 300 auto with 7 seats and cruise had no mot but had tax and went stright through mot
so shoping around is a good idea go to the main dealers and ask what tradeins they have as the old stuff goes to auction
