As you know I swapped the disco for a mondeo zetec over the weekend (needs must etc), well recieved a text from the guy who had it off me - informing me hes going to VOSA because the sills are rusty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
even though I sent him the link to my ad on here with all the pictures and information (including the fact the sills may need patching)and the fact he had a good look around and under the disco on Sunday when we swapped, now cash wise I am probably down on the deal (s plate Mondeo 1800 zetec) but I was happy that we had got a smaller vehicle - and the guy was happy enough that he had got ANOTHER discovery (hes had 4 or 5) .
Not really looking for advice - just a little peed off, especially after the few months of hell we have had with Hubbys illness and youngests Autism!

Chin up... I know it's infuriating... but it sounds to me like you have plenty ofg evedince of open honest communication.
He won't have a leg to stand on.
As they say in posh parts of Scotlandshire...
Don't let the b*r stewards grind you down!

If it was a private sale/swap, I don't think VOSA can do anything?
-
If it was a brand new vehicle off the forecourt VOSA still wouldn't be able do anything All Vosa do is administer the legal side of vehicle safety, MOT's etc. All they'll be able to do is tell him to contact Trading Standards. If he's complaining about the MOT been on an unsound vehicle. That's between him VOSA and the MOT station, And nothing for you to worry about.
-
I don't think it's anything to with VOSA anyway. If it had passed an MOT with dodgy sills, VOSA would be involved in dealing with the offending MOT station, for example. They would have nothing to do with the owner as far as I understand.
-
did you do any form of receipt ?? if so how was it worded, as for vosa, cant see any connection between them and you, and as far as i remember they can investigate a vehicle for corrosion up to 3 months after a mot ticket, after that they can whistle for it  Even worse case senario, if it was a "dodgey ticket " they would deal with the mot station not you,
would not worry about it, personally i would politely but firmly tell matey to go away

Thanks for the input - we had the vehicle for about 4 months - MOT was issued in October last year (to the previous owner) so it was 3-4 moths old when we got the disco ...just peeved that he made assumptions that I had something to do with the MOT - No pleasing some people...
One plus point is that we had the fuel light come on in the mondeo - so we put £20 of unleaded in (@ £1.10 a litre) and managed 108 miles before the light came on again - a slight improvement over the disco
-
I think that works out at 27 mpg. Thats not better than my Disco??
Unless you had a V8. :)
-
Don't worry - VOSA have nothing to do with it. Keep any evidence safe though, emails, ads, etc.

200 tdi - and bearing in mind that was all around town - i think you can see the improvement!
we were lucky to get 70 miles out of £20 of diesel around town.

Agreed, Its buyer beware, VOSA will not be interested.
I one got sent to a job, where a chap had purchased a car, it looked a shed and failed its MOT, he claimed he had been sold a death trap, I agreed, it obvious its a bag of bolts... Well what are you going to do about it? he asked, so I recommended he got new glasses!
Funnily enough he was not happy...
-
If the guy wants rid....let me know
I'll offer him scrap value for it, if he thinks its that bad...
-
he aint got a leg to stand on , and iff hes had discos before he should have known the faults and where to look anyway. you get them . unfortunatly they live all round me
-
As the old saying goes - buyer beware..... you never implied that there would be any warranty or such so just ignore him.
-
The guy knows the Disco as he has had them before.... if you get any comeback tell him to 'wee' off
