I'm looking for some advice on where my son stands. He messed up on his banking so his insurance payment did'nt go out. He did'nt know until he was pulled for having no insurance. He still has a valid insurance certificate and didint receive a letter from the insurance until after he was pulled informing him of the cancellation. This letter is dated the day he was pulled but it states that his insurance is cancelled from the week before. He has to present his documents but is worried as to what will happen. As he told the policeman he is insured on my vehicle so would'nt have driven his had he known his policy had been cancelled.

i dont reckon the police will care too much when he produces his docs they'll just report him for no insurance, they have heard it all before as it were ,he will have to explain himself in court , a shame i know but people getting insurance then cancelling direct debits is very common, good luck

Bang on, I'm afraid if he doesn't produce on the HORT1 (Producer) he end up in court, however that is where he will be able to put his side across, gather his evidence and speak to a solicitor.

Question;
When you produce your docs to the police station and the people (usually civvi's) at the front desk look at them, do they ring the insurer to verify they are genuine?

Are you saying that you got away with taking in false documents? Right, send the lads round to feel your collar. Get your boots on, you're goin' dahn the factory, my sahn!
Only joking. It is very rare these days that you get a PC on the front desk of a nick. I always used to check if I thought they were dodgy. There are ways to tell, but I won't go into them here, for obvious reasons. :police:

My docs were genuine, but i would have noticed if the officer who checked them had made a phone call. he flicked through them, checkked reg and name etc and gave em me back. after had filled out some pointless form.

Good lawyer time I think. Something like until he had been notified he had a contract with his insurance company. They had made no reasonable effort to contact him to resolve the issue and backdated the cancellation , and im assuming he had made a few payments?

yes been paying for a few months, dipstick forgot about bank charges so his budget was'nt a lot of good ](*,)
