Title: Rust - Simple Remedies?
Post by: treehugger on May 22, 2008, 23:25:09
Can anybody recommend a good rust converter? I've a little rust inside bottom door sills which I'd like to be rid of. Have looked at the range that www.frost.co.uk sell, such as their 'S300 DINITROL RC800' and wondered what other peoples experiences of this, or other similar products are?

Of all the 'miracle cures' for rust, RC800 is amoungst the best, but also amoungst the most expensive! We used to sell Dinitrol and I've used their body wax with great success. Lasted years. But it never sold well because of the price and at the time is needed compressor to inject it. Now they offer it in aerosols.

However, the only way to totally 'cure' rust is to cut it out and replace with fresh metal.

Thanks Steve.

I haven't the time, tools nor skills tobe cutting and welding new bits, but I'll give the Ditrinol a try. Can't be worse than ignoring it, and £30 now has to be better than new door and floor plates later.

im not at all impressed with hammerite now, i repainted the rusty bits on mine with it to no avail and yes i did angle grind all the rust off first and its all back less than 6 months later so i gave up and bought fresh metal

nothing like abit of fresh metal or is it fresh beer  :?

Ditrinol seems to have a good reputation

cheers kieran
