I have a disco 2 and the rear rubber coupling has shreded again.
This was changed only last september and has failed again in less that 1000 miles

Looking at your list of modifications in you sig you may find this is failing due to the suspension lift as I've heard of this problem before.

hi. i have a friend with a 300 series D1 which has a castor corrected 4" lift and he changes his every 6 months. i had the same problem with mine, only i had 250kg heavy duty rear +2" springs. it ate the doughnut in 35 miles so i changed it to a 200 prop and uj. i'm guessing its not that simple though on a d2.

My garage changed my rubber doughnut to a UJ in 30 minutes. Been fine since.

IIRC from another post somewhere on here the rubber doughnut is usually ok upto a 2" lift. Over that and is can cause problems.

Custom propshaft and a normal 4 bolt diff pinion flange.... jobs a good'un.

you can fit a rear diff uj unit from a range rover P38 (4.0 V8 and 4.6 V8) as they dont have the Rubber coupling just a standard flange for the UJ and the Rear prop of the Rangie might fit aswell
