Title: just to say hi!

nice mix of views on various 4 x 4's

currently have a Grand Cherokee 4.7l V8 with quite a few mods inc Edelbrock IAS shocks etc

have previously owned Lada Niva (great for the price and very capable off road if a little unrefined on road!!), various Porsche's, Landrover County 110 V8, various Range Rovers, Jeep XJ TD

interests inc home cinema, shooting and deer stalking (very non pc!!), fishing both coarse and game

glad non PC is OK - its actually one of my biggest complaints - must be my age/hormones [-o<

great little off roader was my Niva - used it daily in Scotland with my salmon fishing business

must be one of the very few cars to be suppplied with a manual starting handle?

are they still made? - as i gather UK import ended?

i remember when i was fishing on the west coast of Scotland the Russian trawlers called into Kinlochbervie to pick up secondhand Lada's - amazing how many they stacked on deck! - most could not pay so traded cod etc for cars!!

Post by: nick h on May 30, 2008, 10:13:40: forgot to say one of my other interests is car detailing - but not the obsessive/compulsive type :evil:

i had my Grand professionally detailed and the difference it made was stunning - gone were all the scratches/swirls and the paint shone like never before

i learnt about different waxes and polishes etc and the best way to use and maintain

once you get the car 'sorted' its amazingly easy to maintain with simple two bucket washing and a bit of common sense

and mine gets used off road so is no posing street machine
