If you (can bare to) read the comments underneath, they reckon the engine flooded and stalled - hence no brakes, etc :shock:

If they were not so dam lazy and had real gear boxes in the motors all you need to do is drop it in gear and let the clutch up (not that the yanks would know what a clutch was) and hay presto the engine goes round the vehicle slows down and if you so desire you can apply the brakes (not that I recommend doing so) let the engine be the brake and then you can steer as well (because now the power steering works as well).
Automatic gearboxes are great for off road while the engine is running, stall the engine and you are a passanger.

It is. I've seen the clip before. The full clip shows the vehicle getting to the top and then coming back down (and parking up to wait for the ambulance!!). I've also seen a clip of a well known motoring journo from the UK drive up and down it in a standard Range Rover without incident.

It's not Clarkson by the way.
