Title: Series 3 brakes & axle breathers
Post by: joe90 on June 08, 2008, 14:48:00
Hi

Anyone know what size the brake pipe is on the series three front axle & any idea what the thread size is on the axle breathers....got a few jobs that need doing and just stummped on these bits.

Thanks in advance

Joe

what do you mean in size?

normal metal brake pipe is 3/16 but that would only be a little joining part from the top and bottom cylinders on a TLS setup which the late Series 3's had. Or are you referring to the flexi pipe?

The axle breather thread is 1/8 BSP.

Thanks Devon,

Thats just what i was after, I wanted the solid pipe size from the flexi to the cylinder.....and the thread size as I have to drill out an old breather and re-tap the axle!

just got to find a suitable tap now.

Thanks

Joe

As yes forgot about that bit from the flexi to cylinder.  but it is the same stuff.

no worries mate.....thanks for the info - all this BSB and 1/8th crap is confusing to those of us who learnt Metric! (Just an excuse!)

All that remains is to drill out the axle breather and re-tap the casing....i presume it is a parallel tap!

the axle breather thread is 1/8 BSPP (parallel thread), if you need fittings I keep them in stock PM or goto axledeep.com,
Dave
