What utter and total rubbish some people spout. My mate has a 300tdi disco 98, and he got a cable from Leeds car audio took less than 5 minutes to fit and the LR subs work fine. He has a Kenwood cd head unit in his.

Yes there is an audio plug with  a red and black cable, that plugs into the back of the kenwood and I believe the other end plugs in the disco's wiring harness into a pink wire/connector. I'll be seeing him this afternoon and I'll ask him exactly were it plugs in. I think he may even have taken a few pics on his ipaq. If so I'll get a copy off him

I spliced 2 phono leads into the existing loom to get my head unit to work - I have the details drawn onto the relevant page in the Haynes - but its 180 miles away - if Red doesn't come up trumps and you can wait that long, I'll scan the page at the weekend and sling it on here.....

It was easy enough to do - took about 10 mins - hardest part was sussing out which wires did what down at the door end of the loom as all the wires are black!

Right here it is. The answer to all your prayers. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Landrover-discovery-subwoofer-stereo-lead-NEW-ITEM_W0QQitemZ170225674189QQihZ007QQcategoryZ27379QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem apparently it plugs straight into the disco's wiring harness. The phono plug justs plugs into the socket on the back of the kenwood.
