Title: TDC 300 TDI - JOB DONE

gonna change Vacuum pump tomorrow, been advised to put engine on TDC.  is it easy to do, i assume it can be approx to do this.

can i just undo bolt turn put drill in hole and manually turn engine until i feel the drill bit go in further....

I don't know why they say you have to set it at TDC because you don't have to.

Are you sure that you don't mean the injector pump?

It is advisable to have the engine in TDC as it's a right pain the refit the vacuum pump if not - ask me how I know...!!!

I just flicked the engine on the starter a few times until the new pump fitted close enough to do the bolts up.

Will try that approach, just hope nothing starts pinging out of the engine, Knowing my luck..... :lol:

Well it worked for me - just don't do what I did and turn it over for too long and actually start the engine...lol It didn't break anything but it sure made me panic for a few seconds...lol

The hardest bit is getting the flipping gasket to stay in place while you bolt it back together..!!

Thansk for advice, i was fortunate that the cam was at its lowest when i took it off
