Title: Door skins and chequer plate
Post by: lee celtic on June 12, 2008, 22:11:07
Hi All

Tonight I have noticed my passenger door skin has started to come away.

can they be re-skined or is it easyier to cover it up with a chequer plate kit???

And if the cover up kit is the best answer where is the cheapest place to get a kit from??

I'm also in the same boat!

I went out and bout 2 sheets of 2.5m x 1.25m x2mm aluminium chequer plate, for a grand total of £62 each trade

I'll be making my door plates, rear door card, auxillary gauge panels, bonnet plate (although that will be special ;))

I'll also be boarding my roof rack and plating that.

Don't forget to use aluminium pop rivets!

That was my thought as we have an account with Aalco who deliver weekly to our factory ,It's just the hassle and time I could do without

I have a load of 6mm in the garage left over from another job but it is way too heavy so I'm using that for steps over the reflectors on the rear bumper.(waist not want not and all that)

Aalco is also my supplier! Haha, small world, anyway I've just made my bonnet plate and painted it black (matt) I've pop riveted and siliconed it all the way around and I'll have a bounce on it tomorrow,

Right sides next!
