Generally anything that is not American and within 10 miles is fair game

training to identify enemy targets and direct U.S. aircraft to fire on them.

That just about says it all.
 Pete.

I rather liked the comment on the Aussie website. Along the lines of "Best thing you can do with a Suburban"

The A10 tank buster pilot that blew up a british warrior in the gulf was given a job as a pilot training instructor!

Got to love the Yanks, if the bad guys don't get you, then they will!

Back in the 80's A10s flying out of the US bases in Suffolk used The Wash as a gunnery range-  people in Hunstanton complained of 30mm gatling rounds hitting their houses, and they were 20 miles from the range!

Apparently it was caused by rounds bouncing off the sea; they fixed it by increasing their angle of attack from the usual 2 degrees to 3.

Good to know our allies across the pond are maintaining their high level of skills

I rather liked the bit in one of Clarkson's books where he was writing about the B52.
He was saying that during the Vietnam conflict the BUFF crews were regularly bombing to within 300 yards of friendly forces. he followed that with something like, "Pity they lost the knack"

They've not lost the knack of 'within' 300 yards- it's the 'outside' bit they need to learn.

Smart Missiles to Retarded Bombs- the full spectrum of Military Intelligence.
