ha ha Nothing to do with 'ol Bruce.
20 years ago i wanted to learn how to play the saxophone, and just recently i bought one. I was wondering how many MC members play instruments and what do you play?
It took me 20 years to buy a sax, i hope it doesn't take another 20 years to learn to play it.

Bagpipes...!
Started in 1982 when I joined the Army Apprentice College in Harrogate as a compulsory hobby for the first term... voluntary after that. Left it behind in about 1986 as there was no band where I was stationed. Took lessons again in Glasgow in about 1996ish... founder member of the reformed Royal Signals Pipe Band around the same time but left in about 1997. Recently, been tempted to commit to starting piping lessons for the cadet group I'm part of and that'll be starting in Septemberish.
So... I'm back on the chanter practising scales, grace notes and bought a set of practice pipes recently to get my blowing technique back.
On Saturday was at the National Piping Championships in Canon Hill Park, Birmingham. Here's a couple of pics for those interested.

I play guitar/bass (although i haven't for ages but i suppose its like riding a bike?) and i can also play 2 turntables

I must say Skibum, I LOVE the bagpipes. I love to be in the thick of it with a full pipe band, I even have the Royal Dragoons as my ringtone on my mobile!
Used to play the trumpet as a kid, went as far as passing my O grade music with it and played with a Big Band Jazz Band in my teens. Unfortunately I could never afford my own trumpet so had to give it up when I joined the Navy.
I have a guitar at home as I always wanted to learn, but never got round to it!!
-
Play the guitar now and then, never enough time
-
you'd never guess it but we both play the sax as well, when's the Mud Club Band got it's first gig then ? :D
-
i play guitar, 1977 fender strat, and a 1966 gibson firebird, but only one at a time

I have put in a few hours practice during the last few days, and the sax doesn,t sound like a strangled cat any more. its still not good and my dog howls his head off, but it seems to be getting better.
I bet there are still quite a few closet musicians out there

I used to play sort of bagpipes, usually when inebriated with the aid of a reluctant cat. It always seemed like a good idea at the time, but normally ended up with 'the bagpipe' attacking me and clawing my face.
-
I,ve played the cat, it was a few years ago though....

I dont know why but i've got the image of the German officer from the film "Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines" right now
You know the one, mouthing a marching band whilst bringing out the plane from the hanger

:D We're all off laning in a few minutes I'll be asking where his trumpet and mic is.
If any of you were at Crick boat show they were the idiots in hawaiian shirts playing in the pouring rain while sailing up the canal

With the greatest respect ....
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band are posibbly the best live band I've ever seen..
-
I play the Cornet (after a fashion), normally around Christmas (don't know much apart from Christmas Carols), or when I want the dogs to go away and leave me in peace.

Sounds a typical night round here.... :afro:

Used to play drums in a band not play for years but would love a nice set of electric ones so i can turn the volume down a bit so not to upset the locals

I used to play, all very badly!!!
5-string Banjo
Tokai 'Telecaster' (wrong colour, should have been a natural; Springsteen style)
Hofner President semi-acoustic

I also used to mess about with an ex-friends Double-Bass, but without the bow. It was played 'slap-style'

I'd still love a Gretsch 6120 (http://www.gretschguitars.com/gear/index.php?product=G6120SSLVO&cat1=&cat2=&q=&st=1), but can't justify one to the wife
(even if it was to only hang on the wall/stand in a corner, so I could look at it)
-
I play the drums :)
