Title: Suspension Checking

Right,

Im 90% sure that the spring on the NSR is sagging on my 90...

2 questions -

Whats the best way to get both springs off at the same time? Do i need to get some really really high axle stands to hold the chassis up and let the axle hang? I would have though that they would be unstable..

I also assume that the drivers side spring should be longer by a tad? Is that correct? and how much should it be different by?

jack up put chassis on stands put jack under rear diff jack up a bit wheels off release shocks lower jack springs pop out  some springs are a tad longer on drivers side some are same height but poundage a bit more  happy days

Different rate springs on the same axle? should have about the same effect as mixing cross ply and radial tyres. Only the length should vary between the springs on an axle, not the rate.


To remove both springs, why not jack the body up and remove the spring on one side, lower it down to the bumpstop and the repeat for the other side?

As for the differeance in spring length, the depends on just which rate springs you have fitted. Typically the differance is about 1/2" on land rover springs if they are handed.

plus if they were rated different how would you tell them apart?

That muddies the water a little. I've heard that OME springs are handed L and R but haven't seen any length figures which confirm this.

If you got them new then best bet would be to ask the company that sold them what length(s) they should be.

ive had them colour marked for different side before
