Title: Corrupted camera memory cards - can they be recovered?

Recently on holiday the SD memory card in my other half's camera stopped working - losing around a weeks worth of photo's.
Does anyone know if these can be recovered at all.
The camera seems fine and another memory card works fine with no problems.
