My accelerator cable snapped on Saturday, luckily not far from my house but it was at the bottom of a very big hill, tied it to the slam panel at 2000rpm and limped home.....anyway.....
I am going to get a new cable, I know my disco (chassis TA169115) doesnt have cruise control but does have ABS, I keep getting asked if it has EDC, does it?? Its a 1995/1996 300 tdi XS

Electronic Diesel Control found on late 95-> Discovery auto's.

Thanks Karlo, that answers my question as mine is manual, will get one ordered now!!

If you've got a mechanical throttle cable then you ain't got EDC. Whoever asked you that question obviously doesn't know very much about the subject.

No worries, as Steve says the question doesn't inspire confidence.

Mine is a late 95 Auto (Jap model).
I can't get to the accelerator to see if there is a cable or not. I did read in LRO that EDC models have an ECU behind the driver's footwell panel. On inspection, mine simply had lots of yellow relays.
Am I safe to assume that mine is Non EDC?

Its easy to tell if it has or hasnt got EDC,get someone to rev it whilr you look at the diesel pump if you see a cable actuating something its non EDC,well thats how i was told to tell,oh and they also have loads of sensors dotted around the engine bay.My discovery is also an auto late 95 not jap.
