Title: Taking bets
Post by: Disco_Stu on July 09, 2008, 22:06:19
Over the weekend I fitted new rear flange gaskets, inner and outer hub seals (200Tdi axle) brake discs and pads. All this to rectify an oil leak on OSR hub that had cntaminated my brakes. I also fitted a QT diff guard and topped up the EP90.

I now have a pretty serious diff oil leak! Great. As its lashing down and my other motor is under my car port I cant investigate further so I'm taking bets on where my new problem is coming from. Winner gets nothing but forum pride and the respect of us LR fools.

I'll start the ball rolling.

1. Fitting all new seals and topping up the oil level (was pretty low) has raised the oil level and presure within the diff and forced the oil out of a new hole. Hence, blocked breather.

2. Jacking the rear up with a trolley jack under the QT guard has pushed it into the diff drain plug making a small but significant space between between plug and hole.

Any guesses? I hope its dry tomorrow...

i would say you prop to diff flange is leaking, most deffinatly caused by a blocked breather,
