Title: Alternative Alternator!
Post by: Skibum346 on July 10, 2008, 13:57:41
OK Guys... need some expertise here...

I suspect the bearing on my alternator has given up the ghost so I'm looking for a replacement.

I don't really have lots of whistles and bells that drain juice, but it seems a sensible time to look at putting on an alternator that can handle all the extras an overland wagon would need. However.... I don't know what that would mena, nor if it would "overcharge" the battery.

So, what advice can you guys give re the selection of a higher rated alternator?

Feel free to explain the issues and offer part numbers or specific vehicle designations (as it's a whole lot easier to identify them when shopping!)

Cheers

Thanks Bigger... However...

Just discovered that the bottom mounting bolt has disappeared... allowing the fan protector to fall onto the fan blades... making a most distinctive ringing sound... !

So... all I need to save up for is a new bolt AND a lock washer!
