Title: transmission noise
Post by: GaryP on February 18, 2005, 12:27:10
Recently noticed a transmission noise. It only happens when the gearbox is warm ( after about 5 or 6 miles) and travelling over 60ish. It isnt always there, and it only occurs when accelerating..no noise when lifting off the accelerator.
Sounds like it could be a grumbling bearing, i can alter the noise by wiggling the transfer lever.
Anybody experienced anything similar?

I have a constant whine these days on acceleration. Most noticable in 4th and 5th. Stops if you free wheel or lift off. :?

Not getting any worse tho so we'll wait and see

I had this problem on 'Buzz' I stoped it by fitting
an elastic band between the high/low lever to the gearstick.

I have this problem too - it seems to be a lot more intermittent though - if I'm alone in the car it's fine, only seems to happen when Susie's with me

Running for cover....

I used to keep gaetting an intermittant rattling coming from the Hi-Lo stick, eventualy worked oput I had clipped the soft cover for the radio fascia onto the stick with a carabina and it was working it's way over the top of the gaiter onto the stick.
So there's still hope it's something silly :)
