On the way to Snetterton today to see the BTCC....
77 on the GPS in a 70.
Saw a mobile Van from way off and slowed.
Good clear day, not heavy traffic.
What do you recon my chances are?
-
i dont think you will get done,
fingers crossed
-
Dunno, but I am suspicious about a van in elvedon on the A11, was there very early this morning, and I was doing a tad over 40mph... looks like we can both hope for the best!
-
It was probably the same basta.. i mean van....
I was on the A11 literally outside snetterton at about 10.30 this morinng.
it was very orange - which is why i noticed it.
-
Nah, I went along that road at 7am, ended up at snetterton by taking an unscheduled detour....
-
Clear day, no traffic. You are thinking about a sensible human decision not one of these roadside council cashpoints. Still you may have a chance as thats very close, Good luck.
-
Sorry to be pessimistic, but if they have line of sight then they can catch you. What might help you is if the volume of traffic was causing it to look closer to its location - as I understand it they can only track one target at a time.

Fit a garage door opener ;-)

He might have been checking for current tax disc - you do have one don't you? or could that be another poll
-
if it was 77 on the gps you will get away with it
by law speeedos can be up to 10% out
-
Agree with the 10% thing above, from what I know most forces will use 10% + 2mph before they prosecute.
Thats why I always stick at 79mph on the GPS and have never yet had a problem!

By law (Construction & Use Regs) the speedo can only read 10% high (i.e. speedo says 77; actual speed 70) not 10% low (i.e. speedo says 70; actual speed 77). This does not apply to GPS devices as they are not recognised as a speedometer (for the purposes of C&U)

If it was in a 70 mph section I would not worry. I always set my cruise control at 80 on unrestricted dual carriageways and motorways and have passed many a camera van (including those in Snetterton area of the A11) and have never been reported by one.

Got stopped by a man with the gun the other morning only just spotted him in the distance got me on a country lane that was 30 , never used this road before clocked me at 39 mph got a telling off said if i was doing 40mph it would have been 3 point and £60 only went that way because the main road was closed due to an accident

Just out of interest where was the van on the A11 as I went to the touring cars on Sunday got there about 9 ish and did not see a van, I believe you are allowed 10 % + 2 mph and have been stopped a few times and some traffic police will allow you todo 80 as long as your not driving like a tit or there not having a bad day.
-
It was literally just before Snett.... High up on the bank.
If you look at the map, its a sneaky back road that happens to look over the long straight...

I took my kids to a Police and Fire Open day a few weeks ago (they loved it!), and got talking to Mr Policeman about speed guns etc (they had a number on show).
He said they 'tend' to give people 10mph leaway but have the right to stop people if they are over the limit at all, even by 1mph. He said it would be very rare to be done for a few mph over the limit, but you could be (depends on your attitude to them when stopped I think!)
So, assume nothing. Don't assume you can do 77mph and get away with it.

I got flashed last night by a GATSO .... about 11pm, and it went off in my face. Very "safety" aware NOT. You'd think by now they'd have sorted that problem by now. Rear facing GATSO's should *not* flash oncoming traffic!
-
Law allows 10% for speedo era, however if the officer is having a bad day or hates your car then it may be followed through.
I think you'll be ok :police: :police:

There's an "undocumented feature" (aka bug) in the GATSO software, Neil.
Tut tut, naughty boy if you managed to set that off [-X =;
