My truck has recently started to lack power,to the point of cutting out at junctions. As far as i know it is the first time this has run on a 1/4 veg oil so i presumed it had clogged the fuel filter. I changed this the other day and it was fine.......until yesterday when the same thing happened again. When i undid the bleed screw on th fuel filter i had to pump the lever on the lift pump about 20 times before fuel came out. There also didn't feel like there was much resistance on the lever.
Having not noticed this before can someone tell me this is normal, confirm my thought the lift pump has about had it,or suggest anything else...
I look forward to your help,
thanks in advance

Hi Neil sounds like the same problem i was having with mine after using that cooking oil  Started playing up then found the lift pump not doing anything so left it in the workshop over night and replaced the pump no problem until 3.5 miles later just as i got home and exactly the same, next morning on the way to work no problem until 3/3.5 miles later and it was cutting out stalling with no power so i drained out all of fuel and just ran diesel with no problem haven't tryed any oil since then :?

Time for an update.....tonight i removed the sender unit from the tank and found a few lumps of black gunge around the pick up pipe.I have now cleaned this out.I have also made sure the fuel lines are clear and have removed the lift pump to clean out at work tomorrow.I really need to drain the tank, but what's the easiest way???I don't really want to take out the tank as that would mean removing the rear bumper and tank guard.Ideally i could do with a syphon pump but wondering how to get right to the bottom of the tank....any suggestions again????

Hi mate when i did mine i took the rubber filler pipe off the side off the tank behind the O/S/R wheel and pulled it out that way i did have a hand pump at work but it would be just as easy with a bit of hose and a good suck  :->

Trust me mate i tried draining the fuel out of the black disco like that and after a few tastes of diesel got fed up with it keep stopping
However the good news is that i have managed to drain the tank tonight using a big syringe and a lot of sucks ;)(approx 30 litres).I refitted the lift pump and put in some fresh fuel.Started no problem and have been for a thrash around and it goes like a gudun!! Filled it up £115 :'( and [-o< it will be alright!
Thanks for all your help
