hi all
i have got a 1994 3.9EFI disco and the front pipes are blowing (where the cats are) well the hole lot is shot i riped off the back box and the rest is like tin foil lol.
I was thinking about removing the cats if pos and fitting a ss exhaust. The bloke from the exhaust place said not pos but he just wanted 2 sell me new cats at £500.
the disco has been gas converted and i only run it on gas because when it is running on petrol it pinks with slow pick up.
i have also heard that you can loose the ecu off the engine and run it on twin carbs any no how true that is?? if so how much work??
any 1 out there no wot my options are with it let me no.
cheers rob

Hi Rob,
I run a 1997 3.9V8 on lpg and have had my cats removed for two years now. It has a pipe-craft custom side exit exhaust on (there in basildon Essex) and when they fitted the exhaust they also cut out my cats, I still have the lambda sensors in.
I have passed two mot's like this, if you present it on LPG it has to be tested on LPG.
I still have the cats in my lock up somewhere.

You do not need Cats to pass an MOT if your running an LPG car.
