Title: Rear Door/Tailgate lock
Post by: robbie on July 20, 2008, 16:05:14
Wonder if anyone can shed any light on this for me. The lock mechanism on the tailgate has thrown a wobbly. I can use the remote to unlock the doors etc and this also will allow the button on the tailgate to lift too, the problem is that the button doesnt stay in the upright position when it is unlocked. It flips back down again and wont allow me to open the door. I have taken the panel off and everything looks fine to me, yet the button wont stay upright  :?

I can of course open the door by using the key so it is not all doom and glood.

Ideas please  :)

naw it aint that problem. For this one, the button on the inside of the door wont stay up....... so cant open it at all withot using the key.

Been browsing the net and I think it might be the spring thing inside the lock itself which is broken, so have ordered one of Ebay for a fiver!!!

Anyone else have ideas though, just in case it aint the spring...

just had the same problem, if the lock button goes up on the central locking then "falls "back down its the spring, not to bad of a job, bit of a fiddle.

Andy.

(if it doesnt move at all its the solonoid)

You have to take the lock out,
take a pic or try and remember how the linkages go, though its not to hard to work out how each one goes. The thing that took most of the time for me was taking all the screws out on the bass box thing!
you can see the broken spring once you have the old lock out, I used very long nosed pliers to get the new one in.
wizard has a few pics on his web site "Wizardbilt" of what the lock looks like when its out.
hope that helps

Andy
