Quite a basic question, just wondered if there is any difference between a 200tdi steering box, and a 300tdi one..... i have an older 200, that i recently fitted a brand new box to, and i am replacing the vehicle with a 300, and would like to swap the box if possible, as the 'new' truck has 90k on it, and the new box has maybe 3k....
Many thanks!

Simple answer, YES.
Count the bolts fixing it to the chassis and see if the drop arm is straight or bent. I'm not aware of any other differences.
As an aside, I drove 150 miles to catterick barracks to buy a used steering box. When I got home I was browsing, as you do, and found a tidbit of advice. If your steering box leaks, pour half a cupful of brakefluid into the power steering fluid reservoir, this may stop the leak. I did, it did. Second hand SB is still in my garage after 18 months and the drive is dry....

The steering box on my Disco seems to be seeping rather than leaking. As it is MOT time in a few months would this be a fail?

Thanks for the reply Stu, it came too late, both boxes were the same, and have now been swapped... what an arse of a job, two trucks in bits at the same time!!
Thanks.

My local specialist used the brake fluid trick on mine (may not have been brake fluid). The box lasted another few months before it started weeping again and needed replacing. It's a short term fix if money is tight but I wouldn't rely on it to last.
