tesco is now down to £1.28 a litre and asda also i like price wars  carry on ,that along with my 5p a litre discount voucher i recieved makes it worth the trip :D
-
I passed a supermarket in Bradford on Saturday that was £1.26
-
maybe it,ll get down even more but tesco is good seeing as every other garage is £1.30-£1.33 round here
-
Supermarkets are suppose to be dropping there prices by 3 - 5 pence a litre..
Cheers Gav
-
The price of crude is on it's way down so we will see the prices at the pump drop slowly over the next 2 - 3 months.
-
This usually seems to happen when prices have been pushed to abnormal heights - one supermarket will eventually break ranks and cut it, followed by the rest.
The mumble-mumble about recession is likely to cause one at this rate, with ensuing drop in demand for oil. All those speculators are going to look very stupid indeed...
-
trago mills 125.9 :)
-
£1.23 a litre :D with me discount voucher it will be £1.18 a litre!
-
I hope it's getting cheaper!!
Two years ago (when I bought the Disco) to fill it from the orange light to the first click used to take £75, now it costs £105.
It's a pity my house price has not risen by the same %.
-
How about considering me (us) with the XKR to feed
-
It's a confidence trick to delay the revolution.
"cheaper" just means it's the same price it was about a month ago.
:-k

That is so much nearer the truth then you realise :-$ [-X It's 125.9 at morrisons in Beverley.

"OOOOOOOOOOOOOh!!! Sob Sob!!! "
Ive got an XKR Jaguar to fill with petrol. Oh i am undone. what shall I do?
And I only mention it in my signature to fill the space.
Come on!
If you are in a position to own a car like that, good for you. I'm sure you've worked hard for it, but at the risk of sounding bitter and twisted, spare me the tripe about fuel costs.

Merlin617,
That wasn't a very nice thing to say, BTM is a respected and interesting long standing, regular contributor to this forum and doesn't deserve to have comments like that levelled against him, nasty comments are not welcome on this forum.
-
well the local garages prices have fallen a couple of pence overnight so all,s good

Erm :-k
Did you not notice the 'laughing icon'?????, or is your reply really to be taken in the 'same vein'??
For a car like that, we're happy to pay a bit extra, but it's probably cheaper than running a petrol Series/90/110/Range Rover :-k
Okay, I'll admit I have seen 4MPG from it, but that's on a 'full-bore' start (done in pure experimentation), but how many people drive around like that?? (bar the Chavs in their Saxos, Corsas??)
However, with an apparant average so far of 24-25MPG, we're not complaining that much.

Thanks Frank............................... but I seem to remember that you used to be the one pointing the finger of fun at some of my posts   [-X [-X
(but that was it, in a sense of fun...)
haha, yeah the same crossed my mind lol.
Thanks
Okay, the running an XKR comment was added in a spirit of fun to try & lighten the debate, & I sincerely do hope that Merlins addition was meant in the same spirit?

Petrol is cheaper than diesel because it's the better fuel

..............therefore diesel is the "better fuel" in the rest of the world. :P

Diesel for tractors and tractor units, petrol for cars

Don't forget;
BTCC cars
I watched one of the rounds the other day, probably for the first time since Frank Biela was driving the Audi A4's
The winners of both races was a Seat Leon diesel!!!
Plus, what have Audi used at LeMans?......... a diesel, isn't it??
Sounds a fast enough fuel for me Neil
-
Didn't say anything about speed. I just hate the big black clouds that seem to emit from brand new diesel cars, oddly mostly Audis ......

Fair enough Neil
Surely, though, you must agree that the TDV8 is a suitable engine for the RR?
In common with most people, I'd like to try one in a Defender 110
-

OHHHHHHH yes!!!! Please, please, please!!!!!
I've driven the RR Sport a few times now with the TDV8 and it is fantastic in that, so in a lighter machine like the 110 or a 90 it would be entertainment all the way! Trouble is the :police: would be looking for me too often!!
-
I have to say that the trend for hot diesels (particularly from Germany) saddens me. See, I can remember Citroen and Peugeot pioneering the diesel hot hatch when the likes of Top Gear still thought diesels were only found in tractors. Anyone else remember the ZX Volcane TD, 205 TD or the 306 TD? All could make rapid progress once you learned how to get the power out.
I had a non-turbo ZX diesel, it wasn't particularly responsive but once it got moving it would fly up the steepest hills. A bit like a gas turbine in that you got plenty of power but after a delay. Used to get 50mpg too even when driving like most 17 year olds. But because Citroen and Peugeot couldn't or wouldn't push them as diesel hot hatches the likes of VW and Audi have now stolen their lead.
I wouldn't mind a TDV8 in my Disco, the only snag would be working out what to connect all the electronics to as mine is purely mechanical!
-
I am paying £1.05 ppl try and beat that one and that is for diesel and legal
Tell us more........
-
Given the 'discount' you're enjoying Henry it sounds to me as if maybe your boss is letting you fill up at work for what it's costing him or thereabouts e.g. minus the V.A.T.?? if so then unfortunately the rest of us that have to fill up at a normal garage can't get away without paying the dreaded V.A.T .
,,,,,,,,,,,,,just a thought!! :-k :-k
-
You have got it in one mate but when I do fill up at a garage I can claim the vat back as I am vat registered
There is an amazing amount of hoop jumping to claim VAT back on fuel ... are you VAT registered as a company?
-
So you have a company and you drive a 44t that's not yours too?
-
was £1.22.09 morrison's kettering 30 july best ive seen in weeks

or it could be the general air of doom and gloom due to the state the yUK is in?

 yea tesco now down to £1.24ppl keep going [-o<
-
My local garage has diesel at £1.33......................and an empty forecourt
-
Even the local abusive monopoly garages have gone down to 1.29.9 (from 1.36.9 at the worst time).
I'm still buying my fuel elsewhere as I'm fed up with them milking the local motorists!
-
my local shell garage is now 124.9ppl
still cost me £75 to fill from a 1/4 tank though :embarrassed:
-
Dis Tesco's last night.
£1.249 but with my 5p a litre off it was £1.199, so compared to what it has been its good but I only do a Tesco's fill if I'm in Haverfordwest as its 15 miles from me so no point in a special journey [-X The local garages have the diesel at £1.339 and £1.349!!! so you could say I've just saved 15p a litre!!
I also managed to get some of the KTC veg oil yesterday, unfortunately from Carmarthen Tesco's not Haverfordwest. £14.61 for 15 litres, so 97p a litre.

Bookers and Makro Vegoil is approx 85ppl

Blimey if diesel keeps going down at this rate no-one will be using veg oil and there will be a euro cooking oil lake and they'll be giving it away and begging us to use it up, ;) yeah right - nice thought though. :)
-
Alternatively, it might mean we have to fry our sausages in diesel :(
