Title: what width wheel for my 265 75 16 tyres ?
Post by: jasonslaphead on July 30, 2008, 02:53:22: I just got a defender 90 to replace my old one because I was missing it and i want to put 265/75/16 kumho kl71's on it (I have the tyres already from another vehicle) I'm thinking my standard wheels may be to narrow for the tyres. Is there an alternative wheel from another lr that would suffice or will I have to buy new rims ?

Post by: suggs on July 30, 2008, 16:21:40: a 7 inch rim is fine for 265's. Modulars are a good and cheap option at about Â£35 each if you need to buy some new rims....

Another cheap option are steel Discovery wheels. I had one knocking around already, bought another off eBay for Â£20 complete with a brand new Pirelli Scorpion and two others came from two separate friends for nothing. So that's four steel wheels for Â£20 and I have a brand new tyre to sell.

Post by: jasonslaphead on August 07, 2008, 19:11:34: I got lucky and got a set of 7x16 modulars for Â£50 so the tyres are on now looks a lot better than it did with the 205 16's on it

Post by: bertie_bas205 on August 08, 2008, 16:31:38: I'm running my trialler with 265's on RRC alloys, I think they are 7". I don't think the Rangey wheels fit 90's though.... If they do then the rims are cheap and easy to pick up. As said above Modulars are cheap, they have a bigger offset than a standard rim and fill the arches nicely.........
