I bought my rangy a couple of months ago complete with 4 months tax on it. Received a letter from the DVLA on sat telling me that the cheque for the tax from a previous owner bounced and as a result my tax is void, I can't drive it on the road and have to shell out for another tax disk!
I'll obviously try and get hold of the bloke on ebay that I bought it from, but what a total PITA!!! Never seen this before.

I think you need to buy some new tax I'm afraid - if the tax is void on the car....funny it took them 2 months to work it out though......

It prob didnt, the guy that sold it i should imagine knew that the tax was void!

I was thinking that.
The letter about the tax being void arrived just after the new log book.

If that is was the case and you can prove it (ask DVLA if the person you sold it to is the one who gave them the cheque that bounced) then you have grounds for an official complaint (False Advertising, if nothing else) and to possibly extract the value of the 4 months tax by legal means. (Assuming that the person(?) you bought it from doesn't pay up...)

Just don't expect Ebay to help in any way though!

I will be persuing this and hope to get a result, plan is:
Communicate with seller through eBay: Done, awaiting response
Write to seller if no response
If still no response go the county court route, usually just sending a copy of the completed application to the other party (without filing it with the court) will act as a warning shot and get them to cough up!

remember to print out the ebay page while it's still on ...
after a time they delete them and your evidence is gone....
ctrl+p now ;)
or better still save as...
