I was offered this v8 manual from a block at work for £200 with the idea of using it for spares or selling spares. Then the girlfriend told me it would be her toy and i would be building her some thing.
Here are some pics so far let me know what you think, i plan on running standard suspension at most 1" lift so will need some big arches as i have some 35's to go on.

hmmm beginning to look a little familiar

nice very nice i like this alot the wheels and tyres have changed it loads going to be nice wen finished
-
Looks really good, I'm impressed.
I notice you've lifted the body, have you lifted the suspension at all or did you leave it standard as you said you might?
I'd be interested to hear how it handles and if it fouls on the inner arches as you articulate you're axles, let us know when you get a chance to go out in it.
As said above, chopping bits of your chassis means an SVA is required, do you intend to use it on the road or is it purely a toy?
Keep up the good work anyway, its a proper beast :)
Stu.

The wheels and tyres have made a huge difference, im hopping it will spur me on to get it going soon.
Thy are 35 x 15.50 R15 i managed to get them cheep from another forums adds.
At the moment the suspension is standard, im hopping to leave it alone as much as possible, iv had two lifted trucks now and they seem to eat money sorting problems. I do like the height at the back though, so i think ill put some lift springs in the front. but suspension will be the last thing on my list, no point doing it then add a massive role cage and it all sinking down again.
I was initially thinking of getting it on the road iv seen plenty of bobtails with out sva and i know a friendly mot man. I have also been thinking its supposed to be a bargain off road toy and that an A frame to tow it may be a better option as i have to build a bumper any way. Problem there is i know nothing about or have even seen an A frame used.
and i think the gas tanks under neath may need moving/ removing!
I have the gas system and stainless exhaust to get rid of if any one is interested pm me.

As far as I know A frames are only legal for recovery, and I wouldn't fancy towing an unbraked Disco with another one on a regular basis.
To be completely legal you would need a trailer, or get it SVA'd. Thing is, if your friendly MOT man passes it and you then have a shunt the insurance company are likely to go mad when you are unable to produce SVA documentation, and it may backfire on the MOT issuer. Yes you may be a safe driver but that doesn't stop some pillock from pulling out right in front of you and getting T-boned, or the apparently very widespread local infection of Invisible Disco Disorder which renders a boxy two ton vehicle invisible to drivers of Korean shopping trolleys.
