Title: Steering Guard Disco II
Post by: Mud_Medic on August 21, 2008, 01:37:49
Hi

Looking to get a steering guard for my 2000 Disco II V8. I can't find any for disco II, but loads of different suppliers for Disco I.

Will a 1 fit?

Anyone have any recommendations of supplier. (thinking of Ali, so as to reduce the need for new springs on the front.)

Thanks

Ed

I use a Discoparts steering guard on my TD5;  has seen a fair bit of action and very happy with it, although the towing eyes maybe could be reinforced.

I have tried to order the discoparts guard, but in 8 weeks I have not had the goods and they don't answer the phone/accept faxes.

They have not even signed for the cancellation letter I sent by recorded delivery!

Looking for other options.

sorry jsut re read the thread, this will fit a D2 and is probibly your best bet, my dad has a southdown one on the front of his which had to have major work done to it becasue the anti roll bar is in front of the axel instead of the rear like a D1. same will probbiyl apply for any other daisy cutter style steering guard.

Postage may be a bit steep, (from Germany!) but I got an "Ex-Tec" one, which I'm chuffed with   :D  (its fitted with an ARB bumper).

Thanks for your input.

i currently have the standard bumper, so have a blank canvas to start with. Also need a bumper. I was going to wait until I rip the original off... it has stood up well the the abuse I have given it so far!

in that case i would opt for the D44 one! very nice and it improves the approach angle a hell of a alot and the steering guards bolt to them properley
