an old mini! The scout group that I help at have tasked me with finding an old car preferably an old mini as a projct! here is the tricky bit we only have about £100 to spend but it can be as tatty as hell and it doesn't need to have an engine or any running gear at all! have looked on eBay to no avail has any one got any ideas??
Thanks James (and 1st Leverstock Green scout group)

There is a bloke near me that has had one sitting in his garden for the last 4 years, i'll ake him if he wants to donate it.
Only problem is its in cardiff.
wizard

I knocked and asked, the mini belongs to the son who is a mechanic. He is apparently going to rebuild it.
The old fella i spoke to said the mini has been there for the past 7 years, and he is still waiting for his son to shift it.
Sorry
wizard

i dont know if its worth it but maybe a metro will be suitable, we had 2 donated when i ran a mechanics course for our explorers

Pick up a copy of miniworld or one of the other Mini magazines, there was always bargains in them when I was looking, if your not bothered about having an engine or running gear you might strike it lucky.

email the seller and explain why you want it they may do a deal ;)

I think they are getting too collectable etc for you to get anything sensible for £100 I say a shell only in the paper for £60.
Id suggest trying to dig out something less classic like a fiesta.

Question why a mini???
-
most of my mates are in a mini club, and they said good luck, crappy bangers are fetching £500+, i have a series 3 landrover which would be ideal here for £150, diesel, straight etc. Let me know ;)
-
I think you'll find that with the current prices for scrap metal that the value of an old mini is probably worth more than £100, and in the past they would have sat there and no-one would be too bothered, but these days scrap metal and old cars don't sit still for long.
-
thanks for all your replys! we really only need a shell and i realise that round here the scrap is £80 per ton at the mo but we only intend on welding tubes down both sides and useing it for various challenges involving carrying it round a course! so a mini was about the lightest thing we could think of
thanks James

Why not try and get a hold of a Trotter mobile, might be good enough for your needs, however if its just a case of a lump to tote round an assault course weld a couple of 45's together or use a section of telegraph pole. :-k

Then trawl the classified for a Dihatsu 3-cyl or a Perodua Nipper. Me and my mate can pick one end of them up between us
-
Fiat 126??? or a panda
the speed they rust it would get lighter as you go round the course
-
fiat 126 only weighs 540kgs complete IIRC.
-
Fiat Panda 4x4, get them off-road too ;) :D
-
Cheap Mini's are rarer than rocking horse Poop... Even on eblag they fetch big money!
-
But a Panda would be PEANUTS, but not half the "Street-Cred" [-X
