In the few days of having the wifes new Td5 we've already started thinking of modifying it a bit!. I stumbled on some facelift headlights on ebay the day before we picked it up, so I thought i'd watch them! Needless to say I'm now the proud owner of some snazzy new headlights, but whats involved in fitting them?

alot and time cossuming aswell

I'm not liking the sound of that.
Will the pre facelift ones go straight into my Tdi?

Fitting involves removing part of the bulkhead behind the existing ones, and there are wiring issues too. There are 2 guys selling instructions on eBay, or you'll find various instructions around the Internet. It's apparently a fair bit of hassle but not insurmountable. I've not done it, but I did look into it a while back; at the time, the facelift light units were going for quite a high price, so I put some decent bulbs in instead and solved the problem for under 20 quid.
Or you can pay Simmonites about 50% of the value of the truck and they'll do it for you

They are exactly the same as the silver rimmed ones. 10 minutes to fit a pair.
Shop wisely on eblag and you will get a set for £25. They are getting cheaper as people upgrade to the facelift ones.

It's actually pale silver - always shows up white in photos.

Did my td5 conversion. Took aprox 1 day and i think it was well worth the effort. This link to mine might throw some light on it http://www.lro.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9411

There is a 300 i see regularly when i'm going to work, he's managed to fit them on his and he's also fitted the td5 rear lights. Not had chance to have a realy close look to work out what panels he has had to change but the front wings look original
