Title: Front Prop
Post by: Ridgeback on September 02, 2008, 20:53:23
I need another front Prop for my 90, it was a 1989 F 2.5D with LT77 box (now 200tdi but props are still the same)
I have a friend with a 200tdi and 300tdi disco that he has broken for parts. Does anyone know if they will fit before I drive 50 miles each way to pick one up.

Thanks

Matt

Thanks,

I have been looking at part numbers and was thinking that would be the case. Was thinking of getting a used one at the LRO Show next wekend but with so many different versions I think I will have to spend some money and get a new one.

Does any one know if they are all much the same or is there a better make to go for Britpart etc?

Matt

Do you actually need a whole new propshaft or is it just the bearings in the universal joints that have worn out? These are not particuarly expensive to buy on their own. Persoanlly if getting a secondhand propshaft then I would replace the bearings anyway as a matter of course unless I knew that they had recently been replace.

Britpart tend to ocupy the lower end of the market. When you consider how long the origional items lasted for, genuine parts are amoungst the best for quality.

Agreed, fit a set of branded UJ kits to each end and buy a grease-gun.

Its not the UJ's that are the problem. The centre joint has loads of play from side to side.

I did the UJ's about a year ago but its now time for a new one.

So it looks like its a landrover part then if the britparts are not as good. I dont want to put something on thats not upto the job off road.

Thanks for you help
