Title: Engine Problems
Post by: parsons104 on September 05, 2008, 11:09:40
My Jimny has started running on 3 cylinders! I've checked the sparkplugs, ht leads, ignition coils etc to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm going to get a compression test done to check valves etc hopefully that will go ok, only other thing i can think of is that it's sparking at the wrongtime?
Is it true that cylinders 1 and 4 fire together and 2 and 3 together, that's what the service manual suggests but seems odd, I thought they'd all be staggered?

Thanks for any help!

Just tested the compression, very low on poblem cylinder.  So now the issue is replacing the valves! Guy reckons the LPG has burnt one out. Damn.

Anyone know of someone who can sort the valves if I send the head to them and the sort of price?

Cheers

Henry,

from what i remember from my mechanics days the fireing sequence on a 4 cylinder lump goes:

1,3,4,2.

dunno about who to approach to get yer valves done tho
