Hello,
Im looking for a winch for my car trailer. Main duty is to winch 750KG Elise onto trailer, but I also have a Series3 that may need a lift plus thinking of buying a classic tractor. I am keen on a electric one as I can steer the car up the rams/check around etc
What sort of pull do I need, all vehicles will be "rolling" (unless I stuff the elise!)
This looks a bargain but is only 680kg rated. Id asume that would pull an elise UP the ramps as I can pll it with one finger, but what should I consider.

If you see how weedy the winches fitted as standard on car trailers are.........
plus you can always use a pulley block.

Yes I know standard ones seem very flimsy, but 50% of the ones I see are knackered. I think I may go light, I cal allways tow a car onto the trailer.

I got one similar to this http://www.northerntooluk.com/products.asp?partno=160270E from Ebay for £25.00! It has a line pull of less than a tonne, but it pulls my trialer onto the trailer easy when rolling (series 3 diesel) and has even done it with a snapped chassis! It has also recovered my father in laws fergie 35 from the mud!
Its not fast, but it is effective

That looks like a good option, I was going for a more classic look but you have reminded me that it could be used for other jobs like when I get my ride on mower stuck in a ditch!
