Hi all, can anyone shed any light what the problem can be with overheating again,
It's had the head skimmed, new H gasket, new rad, water pump, top an bottom pipes, another new thermostat, new timing and cam belt about 2 months ago but now has started playing up again, could it be the H gasket again as i got another water pump put on changed the P gasket took out the thermostat and flushed the rad out, if anyone can give more advise it would be very much appreciated as it will stop me from using my groundworkers trowel on it (sledge hammer),
Thx Jav.

Was the head pressure tested when it was skimmed?
-
looking at the pic on your avatar have you flushed the outside of the rad , fins arent clogged with silt or mud are they . just a thought ...
-
Have you replaced the rad mine looked ok till you ran the hose through it and hardly anything came through replaced the rad and hoses and all was well . or is the inter cooler ok had one on range rover diesel the turbo was ok but the inter cooler had had it and it was causing the engine to over work it had got clogged with oil inside so looked ok from the outside , hope this might help

Hi all, all the parts put on last time were new, head skimmed an tested etc, this was only 2 months ago, just put the older water pump back on as the new one had collapsed, but that still hasn't solved it, the engine sounds fine so i don't think its going to be the head now, any other idea ?,

Are you relying on the temp guage or is it boiling or using water - if relying on the guage could be the sender giving a false reading - just a thought?

Over the weekend i've checked all the major parts ie; water pump, pipes, gaskets, rad (but still needs a better clean off) took the thermostat out and re adjusted the tappets as you could float a ship through them etc, but still the gauge hits red and now heat through the fans, am i missing anything ?

just a thought jess is your heater matrix bloked as you say your not getting any heat there this could be restricting the flow
and sorry i didnt get to your GOD IM HOW OLD but have been full of the flue
-
Jav
re the above by pass the heater
also are there any coolant leaks, and how are you topping the system up?
-
The heat has finally came back, but seems to be running at normal temp without a thermostat, didn't think it should do that? where can i find the heater matrix as i've only just got my head around working in the main engine bit without breaking anything :-k

i think its up behind the dash Jav, which makes it awkward to get to.
it may be that it needs flushing and i reckon that could be done with it in situ but leaving the hoses on and running garden hose in the top one and letting it run out the bottom
I ve not the experience on disco so some others may have some alternatives
-
Jav, if its any help, since SWMBO drowned my heater at billing (not my driving of course) and my heater has packed up, my Disco is heating up very quickly. I have checked everything else and the heater is all remains that i havent looked at yet?
