I'm looking at buying some tree slider sills in a couple of months time, but I'm wondering who makes the best ones for about £250? I like the look of the Rebel 4x4 ones but obviously would want to seek opinions before shelling out for a set.
Also, is it safe to use the type with tree bars to jack against? I realise there will be a risk of the hilift sliding sideways, which can be reduced by putting an old glove between the jack and the sill.

ask boss nicely great set on his :D , i dont see the point in 250 quid things its 60 quid in metal to make them max
chassais mount ones i think are alot stronger use in mind too

I'm going to try and modify my standard steps with some box section, see how that goes..

i used those mount for my lpg tank guards ,belly them a couple of times no bent floor yet [-o<

Problem is, I have no experience whatsoever of welding or metal fabrication and given the stresses these things will have to take I don't fancy them as a first project. Yes the metal may come to £60 but after the man-hours involved in cutting, bending, welding and finishing £250 is probably a fair price.

or sometimes there a company on ebay based in kidderminster who does them for 150 ish
what are u sills like matt ? maybe the box section on to them would solve 2 problems with one hit :)

Thats what I'll be doing soon. My sills have seen better days and some box section will be welded in place to replace them, tree sliders will be welded onto the box section and I'll be well happy.
A couple of lads in my club have already done this and it works a treat.
Disco matt, for the price of a reasonable welder and some steel, you can teach yorself to weld and then make your sliders for the same £250 - if not less. If you plan on keeping the car and takinjg it off road a lot, the welder will pay for itself in the long run and give you the skills and equipment to continue to improve and repair your truck.

I think my sills are ok at the moment - there was a smallish hole in the underside of one of them. Obviously I have yet to remove the plastic which may hide all manner of nastiness, but it did pass the MOT with no comments.
I have a cheap arc welder (bought before I realised that what I actually needed was a MIG) and need to learn how to use it at some point. I may still go for the Guardian ones for simplicity's sake as they're £50 cheaper than Rebel 4x4 and include jacking points. I'll take the plastic bits off and see what horrors lurk beneath closer to the time.

I've got a guardian tank guard on my Disco, it's a serious bit of kit...!!! When I decide to get some tree sliders I know where I'll be going. Spence is a top bloke and only 2 mins down the road from me... :dance: :dance: :dance:

I'm not sure to be honest. I do know he's started doing winch bumpers for the D2 so it might be worth giving him a call and see what he says.

I've got guardian tree sliders on mine, quality pieces of kit, only downside is that the paint is cack. Fitted well and look the business.

i will start to make make my sliders for those who ask. will be madeto order at the moment so there wont be any just floating about that i can send off.
will cost around £90-£100 +p&p also going to start to make gearbox guards along with other bits and bobs if anyone is interested. let me know if you are.

I use guardians stuff, bumpers, tank guard, streering guard, light bar and rock sliders, all very well made and with my driving they've stood upto alot. The last time i went to collect parts he was on about starting D2 stuff but you'd have to confirm that,

Devon 4x4 aren't a Main Dealer!! Also Discoparts has gone out of business!

You may find the price cheaper on E-Bay but they add P&P which usually means it's more exspensive than there own website which is Free P&P.
