Thanks for the heads up but please don't name and shame on here.
-
Why not? If someone is going to do a deal over the net, be it ebay or through the forums then those that are rip off merchants should be named and shamed
-
defo if there thieving pikey scum trying to sell other peoples pride and joy's [-X
-
Why not?
Because I've requested it not to published on here, The last thing anyone wants is to get drawn into possible legal action from any of the parties involved..
PM the person involved if you really need to know.
-
The way to do it, if he is convicted, would to post a link to the news report. I m sure that would be ok with the Mods and Admin.
Paul
-
Both Paul's are right,if convicted it becomes public knowledge and there are no legal issues with placing a link to the court findings, otherwise innocent until found guilty by a court.
-
Agreed, at the moment he is "alleged robbing git" and naming and shaming could be perceived as undue prejudice. It could go against the plaintif in a court too.
-
PM me his details I'll name and shame him on landyzone.. and post the link to the hread on here. Nothing illegal or libelous to worry about then..

... Please don't go about things by using the back door, As I have said before we don't want naming and shaming on here and that includes any links you might post...
If you choose to go down this route then so be it... but please think before you do as your use of this site maybe put to an end.
I've asked nicely please don't make me get heavy handed - 'Innocent until found guilty'.
Lets move on..
-
Fair enough, but you can't be held liable for posting information that is publicly available on another site.
-
Yep, absolutely right.
But we can, and will, continue to control what gets published here.
Them's the rules and we're happy with 'em.

100% agree
The first request was nice and polite; why can't people listen to polite requests instead of forcing Mods to get heavy handed?
If you don't like the rules nobody forces you to use the forum

That not good whats happening to your friend :rolleyes:Does he stand a chance of getting his money back, Are the police doing him for handling stolen goods ?
-
In a nice and legal type way I will keep you informed, as it goes the police are not interested in getting his money back. We have been told that once the Landy has been checked the insurance company that paid out on it will offer it to my mate to buy it back. Funny it as advertised on Landyzone.
-
A point to ponder for your mate. Anything that your mate has put on the vehicle (tyres etc) are his property. SO if the insurance company want the vehicle back then your mate is fully entitled to remove his property. I am sure he could find receipts for tyres, alternator, battery................. thenhe could offer to buy the now "scrap" vehicle parked on his drive. There is also the question of storage. If the vehicle is still in your mates posession, he is within his rights to charge for storage.
£30 a day for storage should bring the bill down by quite a bit

And where have I said I didn't like the rules. I offered a suggestion that would allow people to know who this moron is. The mod said he wasn't happy with it and I agreed not to follow that suggestion through. my reply was "Fair enough" how you can convert that into "If you don't like the rules nobody forces you to use the forum"?? is beyond me!!

HPI checks are well worth the £'s - saves any amount of hassle. http://www.hpicheck.com/newfrontend/

TBH you said more than "fair enough"... I'm guessing it was the second sentance that prompted the comment rather than the first.

The 2nd sentence was just to clarify a point of law. The mods main concern seemed to be that they might be open to legal action if they published the details. I was just pointing out that you cannot be prosecuted for printing something that is already in the public domain.
-
I'm not sure that publishing it on another forum constitutes 'Public Domain' though.

In Law it does which is why a newspaper can not be sued for printing something that another newspaper has already printed. Only the paper breaking the story can be sued for liable. But as I said earlier if the mods don't want the link posting then that's fine by me.

Thank-you, we'll leave it at that then, subject closed.
