Need to sort out the candles on my 200tdi, which bulbs give the most improvement ?white, blue, or 100w ( illegal i know, but prob no more dazzling than modern headlights ). I use back roads most of the time, so i'm ok on main beam with spots, the problems when i dip.

Rewire them with relays supplied and fused straight off the battery - use the existing wiring to switch the relays.
Original set up is that feed for lights goes from battery, via fuses, directly through column stalk switch and back out to lights - explains why a lot of people have issues with the switch melting and failing.
That and a good quality set of bulbs should improve things.

Do you use two relays, one for both dip and one for both main .

Yep, you'll need a relay for each pair of bulbs you want to switch separately - one for dip and one for main beam therefore.
As for bulbs, mine has the ice white sort and they are worth the money. Still 55w but the white light seems a lot more useful than the yellowish glow of normal bulbs.

Yep i agree with the above, U added relays to mine this afternoon, It is somewhat brighter, even with stand bulbs.

Do 300s use relays or 'direct' to the lights? If 'direct' that is amazing..the Japs used relays on their 1972 corollas!!

this is mine with td5 head lights and blue l.e.d side lights blue headlight bulbs all 55w bulbs expect l.e.d

Mine has the cool blue 100/90 watt bulbs, at the minute they're run straight off the stalk but I shall be fitting relays to get the full power out of them in the very near future.
The bulbs are bright as it is but could be a little better!

Depends on the age of vehicle pre 1991(I think april but suggest any which is list as 1991 Model year) you can fit any bulb as long as it is in an E' approved lamp and pre 1983 there is no restriction (although if they are regared as dangerous you would be done I'm sure)
Vehicle manufacture with 1991 model year and later it is a legal requirement to fit E' approved bulbs to E' approved lamps. There are some E'approve 100watt bulbs out there but they are rare though.

There are also E approved HID bulb kits. If you've tried them you'll not want anything else.
