Title: Hi-Lift Jack adapter

I want to make myself a hi-lift jack adapter thing (the one with the round bar on it).

Has anyone got one that they could measure for me so that I can go and buy all the angle etc from the local forge please?

I've noticed that some are a simple |_| shape with bar welded on top and some seem to have little pads on the inside of the u section.  Are the pads important?

If someone is able to measure the side wall and width of the u-section and also the bar diameter or cirumference I would be very very grateful.

I'm planning on buying a few meters of each so if anyone wants one making then let me know!

How much?  They did have cheap ones at Paddock's but they got withdrawn due to a few 'failures'.

well I haven't worked out the cost of the metal and welding yet, but I'd reckon around £10 for mates £15 to strangers, and to ebayers maybe more!  So for you a tenner :-)

What do you think?

I've two private welding jobs I've been asked to do, for some custom fabrication but those won't take more than a couple of hours to complete, once I've done those I can get round to thinking about the jack adapters.

The bar appears to be 1inch diameter although my holes are close 34mm on my bumper.  I think a 25 or 26mm bar would be more appropriate though.  I'm just debating the other part, I measured my jack and could use 3x3 box section which would go over the whole thing then there would be a bolt through the hole.  Alternatively I could copy the commerical ones and use a U section with two slits cut in the rear, this would allow it to slide over the foot where it widens and also help to spread some of the twisting forces of the adapter.  I've just not decided the best way to do it.

My local metal merchant requires me to buy 9 metres at a time so I better get the design right as I'll have about 50 jack adapters when I'm done!

Silly question but is it defoe a High-Lift jack adpter,

 you thinking of making as the one for the Jackel/Farm jack is different.

The 'rod' is 28cm overall
13 cm is the length of the 'box' that fits on the shoe of the jack
The battries on my camera are flat so I will have to get you some shots tomorrow
Inside width of shoe section is 4cm
diameter is 3cm
