Post by: JimP on September 29, 2008, 09:45:26
Have noticed recently that my Discovery is on the slant, the dirvers side is an inch lower that the passenger side!

Can anyone tell me why this is??????

Waht can I do to rectify it??

Cheers

It could be that the springs are getting tired, remember, theres always someone in the drivers side whenever its being used, so they are the ones more likely to sag.  Mine also sags on the drivers side.

must be just what happens to disco's then as my disco does exactly the same, it used to be about 2 inch difference but then i found out that the rear drivers tyre had less air in and was making it sit low. but when the pressures were the same it was then only 1 inch different on the wheel arches.

My disco is 1/2 inch lower on drivers side with new springs 2"Lift  Scorpion Racing are aware of this and supply springs to meet this   It is common  I used to race cars and every car is different and we always had to adjust springs to obtain an even weight on each wheel  i made a 3/8 spacer which compensated for the 1/2 difference?

The Disco isn't on it's own here, the Classic Rangie tended to have a leaning problem as well.  ;)

If you look at the standard LR springs for the Disco then you'll find that the fronts are "handed", the slightly heavier rated spring goes on the drivers side.
I got a set of +1" Scorpion springs years ago and they were also handed on the front.

As Stuntman said, check the body mounts, especially the rear cross member ones if it's suddenly started leaning.  ;)

When you think of whats on the drivers side of a Discovery it's not suprising they lean.

battery, steering box, steering wheel/column  ,brake servo , two wiper motors , peddle box , Driver , fuel filler , spare wheel , mad man with the axe ,

And these are there all the time , Ok the mad man with the axe is only on tuesdays ;) but the rest is there all the time it must take it's toll on the springs .

Does any body have a left hand drive one to see if it leans or not
