The next mod on the disco is side exit exhaust, my question is this ,i also want it to sound meaty  so shall i cut out the center box as well as the back one or will this be to much ? Disco is a L plate 200 TDI.
Thanks.

An unsilenced TDI is pretty loud. It should get through an MOT but it will be touch and go, and it'll probably be a bit too much on longer drives.
-
dont do it mate [-X
my friends lost his centre abd back box and it sounds like
a bag of spanners
ive removed my back box and done a side exit and it sounds sweeet
-
There is also the possibility of engine damage from too little back pressure with both boxes removed.
-
I welded the back box in the centre, and binned the centre, and to be honest, it's louder than i had hoped, i'm thinking of getting another centre section to quiten it down a little......
-
ive done that too , think it sounds nice .. took the cat out too. alan

[bauble]....

I thought that had been considered a while ago, but the general feeling seemed to be that the turbo would provide enough back pressure?
-
Once the turbo has extracted all the energy the exhaust gas has to give up then you need to get rid of the gas as easily as possible.

rear box off and they sound sweet :D :D :D :D

People mostly remove the centre silencer and leave the rear (which is actually a resonator). This keeps high revs noise down, which is quite loud with a straight through pipe.
The turbo provides enough back pressure to prevent valve bounce.
Boss - your exhaust sounds perfect - lovely shallow whistle in the background - what can have you used?
Les.

its a chopped up TD5 alive one.
it took a while to get it right(about 2 days)

the same thing can be made out of any other exhaust. i used no extras its just the bit after the center muffler.
-

hmmm possible 100mm.

found me pic , i just got the rear silencer modded instead of the main one no cat and exited out the rear wing .
-
stick it up high like skippys one ideal when ur gonna do this
-
I took mine out the side, decatted and straight through all the way.
Passed the MOT recently with no bother.
Definately louder but nothing like the dustbins scraping along underneath the Chav's Saxo's.
Turbo spins up much faster, makes it more driveable - I put a K&N in at the same time.
