Title: Easy-outs question
Post by: brixworth-alan on October 14, 2008, 21:34:41
I have a couple of stubs to remove, there's no heads so can't use my bolt remover. 'Easy out' bolt splitters/ screw removers would seem to be the thing but I hear a lot of conficting things about them in terms of whether they work and which makes are good. Anyone have a set they swear by?

iv tried lots of differnt bolt/screw removers and broken them all, even pretty expensive guaranteed ones, dont bother trying them now, just reach for a drill.

Easy outs....don't bother. They usually snap off, leaving a hardned bit of steel in the stud.

I agree with MuddyMike. I use the MIG welding technique.

too true iv had the hardened diamond finish end break off and stick in many a time, meaning u cant even drill it out-not fun.

Well that seems a pretty clear verdict
