I have a disco 300tdi my engine starts up first time and idles fine but it will not rev over 2000 revs.ive changed the fuel lift pump and bled the fuel system but this has made no difference could it be something to do with the sediment bowl?any help would be very welcome thanks in advance

check fuel filter and renew is necessary, and also check the filter actually INSIDE the fuel tank, make sure its not clogged up.

throttle cable?

How are you getting it up to 2k, flooring the accelerator or building it up steadily?
What happens when you get to 2k - does it just sit there or cough and splutter?
Are you confident the lever on the lift pump was engaged correctly when you replaced it?
Have you replaced anything else recently?
Have you drained the sedimenter recently?
When was the fuel filter last changed?
What condition is the air filter?
Any smoke? Colour?
(Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition...)

hi no smoke at all, fuel and air filter was both changed last month along with the stop solenoid.build it up slowly to 2000 revs then it just drops off to the idle speed no coughing or spluttering.

Lift pump may be worth a look, but that general manifests itself as taking a bit longer to fire and occasionally spluttering and cutting out at tickover. It does blunt performance too - mine changed from Wright Flyer to Hercules when I changed the lift pump!
It's not an expensive part or difficult to fit - may be worth a look. If you pump the little lever on the side of it do you feel any resistance? The diaphragm inside generally cracks, leaving it unable to pump fuel.
